The Holy Angels Pumpkin Patch

Just last week the Daily Star News wrote an article on the importance of play-based learning. The article highlighted the benefit of learning through play. Students learn more when they are enjoying the process of learning.

Here at Holy Angels, we are using play-based learning to help students get excited about every lesson. As play gives our children the opportunity to have what Cory Raner, a master teacher in New York, calls “eureka moments translating from paper to reality.” The day this article was published children in our pre-k class were building a pumpkin patch where they had the opportunity to learn about the life cycle and ecosystem of a pumpkin through play.
